About Us

The Doha Garden Club, a non-profit organization was founded in 2002.

We are an international and culturally diverse group of ladies, willing to learn and expand skills in all aspects of gardening, specifically pertaining to the Gulf region.

Our regular meetings have proved that when a group of inspired and great minds get together, the flow of knowledge and the sharing of ideas leads to fun, good gardening, and social interaction.

Growing a garden in a desert or for that matter even growing  simple indoor or outdoor plants, is a challenging task as one has to face unfavorable conditions – very little rainfall, poor arid soil, harsh climate and desalinated chlorine water. This website is packed with a wealth of information and photographs that will be beneficial in helping you understand ‘when’, ‘where’ and ‘what’ goes into gardening in Qatar. We hope that through the Doha Garden Club you will be able to overcome all the frustrations and difficulties that are faced, and turn those dried barren sandy areas into beautiful plant/garden treasures.

The objective of the club is to promote good gardening practices, through the correct usage of appropriate plants and plant materials sensitive to the local environment.
Our meetings, field trips encourage our members to learn, grow, conserve, design and beautify Qatar and at the same time promote goodwill and friendship among the members. Programs include floral and horticulture lectures and demonstrations, environmental education, Q&A sessions etc.

Meetings are scheduled from September to May. We are closed for the summer from June until August.
